Seeking treatment for your emotional health and well being is one of the most courageous steps you can take in your life.

1 in 5 Americans experience mental illness in their lifetime. Are you struggling? More than half of those suffering do not seek treatment. Studies show treatment is quite effective.

Don’t wait to reach out for help. I want to connect with you.

My philosophy is to focus on your needs and the life you want to be living. I don't believe in putting people in a box or in labels. I want to understand your needs and provide you with your own personalized treatment plan. Not all situations require medications, but I want to keep both the options of therapy and evidence based medication options available to you as needed. I want to work together to come up with a short term and long term plan of care that fits your lifestyle and needs.

MEDICATIONS: Although I am trained in and certified to prescribe medications, I do not feel they are always necessary in treatment. I also feel it’s important to realize that everything with an effect often has a side effect. That being said, I appreciate and practice evidence based medicine. There is no doubt medications can immensely help improve quality of life and improve symptoms. I like to have a discussion regarding risks/benefits in detail and a long term plan for each medication I prescribe. Your safety and well being are always a priority of mine.

PRIVACY: One of the reasons I am doing a private practice is to provide a more private experience. I recall once being in a lecture hall where the instructor told us to close our eyes and think of our 3 deepest, darkest secrets for 30 seconds. Then he asked us to open our eyes and share those secrets with the person left of us. Do you know how many people shared? NO ONE. That’s because we need to first build a relationship with trust, non-judgement, privacy, compassion, comfort and security to start opening up. I will work hard to provide as much privacy as possible for you. I feel that building a relationship with you and providing a safe/private environment in very important in creating a space for progress and growth.

THERAPY: Studies show a combination of therapy and medications tends to provide the most positive outcomes in treatment of mental illness. I find therapy to be crucial in having a better outcome long term. I will discuss types of therapy that I feel would be the best option for you. I can provide therapy, but am happy to help you find a therapist if needed or collaborate with a therapist you are already working with.

I have a special interest in treating anxiety, depression, dealing with trauma, struggles with inattention.  I also focus on women’s issues – dealing with guilt, managing transitions, infertility, pregnancy, postpartum, and advocating for equality.

Out of your vulnerabilities will come your strength.

Of NOte

Since my practice is small, I do not treat major psychotic disorders, significant drug or alcohol problems, most eating disorders, borderline personality disorder, dementia or psychiatric emergencies. This clinic is not equipped to manage psychiatric conditions that require urgent care or 24/7 treatment. A mental health clinic or large health care system can serve those needs in a way this clinic cannot.

I do not conduct psychiatric evaluations for purposes other than mental health treatment, such as evaluations required for an employer or school, legal proceedings, disability benefits, or medical clearance. I do not prescribe daily use of benzodiazepines such as clonazepam, alprazolam, etc or stimulants such as Adderall.
