EXPERIENCE

My work with patients started when I volunteered at the hospital and worked at a research lab at the University of Texas. Following that, I started doing my academic rotations in medical school then my clinical rotations (about 22 rotations total in different areas including an couple of acting internships).

In 2011, I started working at Brackenridge Hospital doing my internal medicine and family medicine rotations followed by a couple of months at Dell Children's hospital. Having these rotations allowed me to practice my clinical experience from medical school (but at about a rate of 80 hours a week).

Through out my entire residency I covered the hospital ER/floors on call- triaging psychiatric patients while also managing any acute medical issues. I also continued to engage in weekly didactics for 4-5 hours a week with board certified psychiatrists teaching different lectures. I was exposed to, received some training in and practiced CBT therapy, psychoanalytic therapy and motivational interviewing.

My residency training entailed about 15,000 hours of direct patient care in numerous settings along with didactics. I have also concurrently completed my USMLE Step 1, 2, 3 followed by ABPN board certification after graduation.

Since graduation, I have worked primarily in an outpatient setting and taught at Oregon Health and Sciences University. Along with that, I have supervised the OHSU consults team and also engaged in call coverage at Unity Hospital.

On a secondary note, I have traveled to about 17 countries and lived in 3. I have a passion for learning about other cultures and how mental health struggles present and are managed in other cultures.
